I am starting to teach myself piano, and want a piano that has weighted keys so it resembles a ‘real’ piano, without being pricey and large.

Because of the price, I would have to get a 61 key stage piano (like a keyboard sized digital piano). Would this be good for learning piano? I am mostly playing songs from youtube tutorials on pianos, so I want it to sound as close to a real piano as possible.

I am 14 years old, almost 15. I’ve been playing guitar for a year now, but i was wondering if it’s too late to start learning piano or any other instrument. If not, would you recommend i start now?

additional: i’ve always been a fan of music. I grew up playing drums, recorder, and recently guitar. I know all the notes on the treble clef, scales, and a lot of chords.

Better piano techniques for learning by ear (please read on)?

Recently I have decided to stop learning piano by sheets and start learning by ear. I am always able to figure out the right hand in a song, because it is normally the melody or main beat (sometimes it is even the singer), but I find I am always doing the same old stuff with my left hand… Which is mostly octave hits with a key pressed in the middle too. I vary it by changing the pattern in which I hit these keys but it still seems boring to me. So, does anyone have any good left hand filler techniques?

What are the pros and cons of learning guitar and piano?

I’m currently debating between learning piano and guitar. I was thinking about going for both, but I decided that I’d like to focus on just one right now. My question is, what is the learning curve like for each instrument? What are the pros and cons of learning/being able to play each instrument? Thanks in advance =)
